A Little Boy’s Softly Spoken Words to His Grandmother Have Gone Viral

The most important relationship in my life until I had my own children was my relationship with my grandmother. She always made me feel so love and so important. I think that’s the case with many grandchildren and their grandparents. There’s a special love between a grandparent and their grandchild and there’s nothing else like it in the world. The thing about grandparents is that their only job, in most cases, is to love the grandchildren. They aren’t charged with discipline and things like that. And in return, their grandchildren usually love them unconditionally as well. We don’t know if the story below is true or not, but it’s been circulating on the internet and with good reason. It reminds people of their own relationships with their grandparents and reminds them just how special those relationships are. This story is certain to make you smile and fondly remember your own grandparents, or make you think of your beloved grandchildren if you have them.

An elderly woman and her little grandson, whose face was sprinkled with bright freckles, spent the day at the zoo. Lots of children were waiting in line to get their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating them with tiger paws.

“You’ve got so many freckles, there’s no place to paint!” A girl in the line said to the little fella. Embarrassed, the little boy dropped his head.

His grandmother knelt down next to him. “I love your freckles. When I was a little girl I always wanted freckles,” she said while tracing her finger across the child’s cheek. “Freckles are beautiful!”

The boy looked up, “Really?”

“Of course,” said the grandmother. “Why, just name me one thing that’s prettier than freckles.”

The little boy thought for a moment, peered intensely into his grandma’s face, and softly whispered, “Wrinkles”.
