Rude Train Passenger Refused To Lower Voice While on Phone Until Woman Next To Him Shut Him Up

Being stuck next to someone talking loudly over the phone is one of the most uncomfortable social situations one can be in. Sure, it’s probably not as bad as someone who smells or keeps trying to hit on you, but it ranks pretty high on most people’s annoyance list. Phone conversations are supposed to be between two (or more) people who are connected via their phones. People who speak loudly might as well be advertising just how important they think they are. I can tell you that it’s especially annoying if you’re trying to read. And in this fictional joke, a lady had enough of the obnoxious man who would not lower his voice while on the phone, so she did something about it.

After a tiring day at work, I got on the trainmy usual commuteand sat down and closed my eyes.

As the train rolled out of the station, the guy sitting next to me pulled out his cellphone and started speaking in a really loud voice: “Hi sweetheart. It’s Eric. I’m on the train,” I could hear him bellow.

“Yes, I know it’s the six thirty and not the four thirty, but I had a long meeting.”

“No, honey, not with that blonde from the accounts office. It was with the boss.”

“No sweetheart, you’re the only one in my life.”

“Yes, I’m sure, cross my heart.”

At first, tried asking him politely to lower his voice, but he got really cross with me and saidrather rudely, I might add”You are free to find another seat.”

Fifteen minutes pass and the guy is still talking loudly. It’s at this point that I got fed up of his antics and leaned into the phone to say,

“Eric, hang up the phone and come back to bed.”

Redfaced and absolutely shocked, he shut off the phone and didn’t say a single word after I did that. I doubt he uses his phone in public any longer.
